Lagos Ignites Safety: Launching New Fire Stations to Enhance Community Protection

The Lagos State Administration has revealed intentions to enhance fire safety infrastructure throughout the state, following the establishment of a new fire station as part of recently inaugurated initiatives aimed at bolstering public safety and advancement.

As per a communiqué from the Lagos State administration, the initiatives were disclosed during a two-day inauguration event held from April 8 to April 9, 2026, under the leadership of Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu. The exercise was conducted on behalf of Bola Ahmed Tinubu by Godswill Akpabio.

Among the significant initiatives launched is the Tolu School Complex located in Olodi Apapa, Ajegunle, in Ajeromi-Ifelodun Local Government Area. The complex consists of 36 educational institutions, a state-of-the-art fire station, and a stadium featuring 19 mini football fields.

The integration of a fire station within the facility underscores the government’s endeavors to safeguard lives and assets while also fostering community development.

A multi-agency center, named in honor of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, was also inaugurated during the occasion. The facility is anticipated to enhance collaboration among emergency responders and other public service agencies in the state.

Addressing attendees, the Controller-General of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Margaret Adeseye, praised the government for its ongoing investments in safety infrastructure, indicating that the newly established fire station will bolster emergency response, particularly in densely populated areas.

“The new fire station will greatly improve emergency response coverage, especially within populous communities,” Adeseye commented.

Adeseye noted that with the establishment of the Tolu Fire Station, the total number of Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service (LSFRS) sites has risen to 25, marking it as the 11th fire station inaugurated by the current administration. She added that three additional stations are at various stages of completion, with two already allocated funds in this year’s budget.

This development showcases the government’s ongoing commitment to enhancing emergency services and creating a safer, more robust, and inclusive atmosphere for residents throughout the state.
