“Nigerian Governors Present Bold Proposal to National Assembly, State Police at the Forefront”

The Nigeria Governors’ Forum, NGF, has declared that it has presented a blueprint for the creation of state police to the 10th National Assembly.

NGF’s leader and Governor of Kwara State, Abdulrahman AbdulRazaq, revealed this during a Sallah tribute paid by 25 governors to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at his residence in Ikoyi, Lagos on Sunday.

He stated that this initiative is part of renewed and organized efforts under President Tinubu to tackle the nation’s ongoing security issues.

The governors also pledged to enhance coordinated measures to confront insecurity while promoting infrastructure development and improving socio-economic conditions for citizens, in accordance with the administration’s extensive development strategy.

“Regarding the establishment of state police, dialogues are presently in progress among various security agencies, spearheaded by the National Security Adviser, and the NGF has provided its input. That document will be taken to the National Assembly for consideration of a legislative framework for state police.

“We dedicate ourselves to renewing our partnership with security forces to combat terrorism, to steadily increase infrastructure prospects, and to enhance the wellbeing of our populace. Collectively, we must ensure that security breaches across the nation cease.”

Additionally, Kwara Governor, whose state grapples with insecurity, praised President Tinubu for the execution of the Renewed Hope Agenda, which he claimed has enriched citizens’ feeling of inclusion in national development and promises enhanced security outcomes.

“Together, we must ensure that security breaches nationwide come to a conclusion,” he emphasized.
