
Nigerian artist, Bella Shmurda has asserted that beyond amusement, music functions as a means for societal development.
While featured in the For Bunmi documentary, the ‘Cash App’ hitmaker referred to music as a form of combat.
He clarified that music is a means for advancement as well as a medium of goodwill.
“Music is combat. Music is a means for society. Music is a means of advancement. Music is a medium of goodwill. Music serves to maintain people’s sanity, to place them in an appropriate mindset, to enable them to dance away their grief, and to help them feel lively and self-aware,” he clarified.
Bella Shmurda noted that fatherhood has profoundly influenced his musical style.
He mentioned that he is now more mindful of the type of music he creates because he desires his children to take pride in his work as they mature.
