“Nigeria’s Musical Rift: Omah Lay Highlights the Davido vs. Wizkid Fan Divide”

Afrobeats artist, Omah Stanley Didia, famously known as Omah Lay, has asserted that the Nigerian music scene is fractured between supporters of Davido on one end and Wizkid’s supporters on the opposite end.

The Soso hitmaker made this assertion during a recent discussion with American platform, The Fader.

Omah Lay clarified that at one point, he even disconnected from Wizkid, Davido, and Burna Boy, who are widely acknowledged as the Afrobeats “Big 3,” due to his dissatisfaction with their leadership in the industry.

“The entire Nigerian Afrobeats landscape is quite divided. It’s as if you’re aligning with Davido on one side; if you’re with Wizkid, you’re on another,” he remarked.

“Back in 2024, I actually disconnected from Burna Boy, Wizkid, and Davido. I believed they initiated something with Afrobeats that we required, but it was an outdated approach,” he expressed.

Regarding his connection with Davido, Omah Lay shared that their partnership on ‘With You’ occurred “organically,” emphasizing that the experience made him “fall in love” with Davido’s character.

The musical artiste suggested that Davido possesses “many detractors” due to his affluent upbringing.

Omah Lay remarked that the DMW leader has “nothing to demonstrate to anyone,” noting that his “motivating factor” distinguishes him.
