Nigerian DJ Association Axes Burna Boy’s Tracks Amid DJ Tunez Feud

The Nigerian DJ Association, NDJ, has formally prohibited all Burna Boy’s tracks from its members’ playlists.

The organization made this declaration on Wednesday following the artist’s purported physical confrontation with DJ Tunez.

NAIJATAB reports that DJ Tunez was physically attacked by Burna Boy and his crew at Obi’s House, a renowned weekly Afrobeats event in Lagos on Monday evening.

A viral video circulating on the internet shows DJ Tunez being assaulted for playing Wizkid’s tracks and neglecting to include Burna Boy’s music during the event.

The viral clip, which depicted DJ Tunez being struck and kicked while on the ground, incited varied reactions online.

In response to the episode, the Nigerian DJ Association stated it has removed all Burna Boy’s music from playlists while awaiting the results of its inquiry into the assault.

While denouncing animosity in the music scene, NDJ released an official statement on Instagram, declaring: “Burna Boy’s music is momentarily absent from any of our DJs’ playlists until further notice.”

“Our team will conduct a thorough inquiry regarding the incident involving one of our own, DJ Tunez.”

“We encourage DJs across Nigeria to remain alert and show respect to any artist, regardless of gender, at their various events.”
