
The Delta State Police Command has apprehended four alleged armed thieves and retrieved two firearms during synchronized patrol operations throughout the state.
The apprehensions were executed through distinct operations conducted by personnel of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) and the Crack Squad.
Members of the RRS, on April 23 at approximately 4:25 p.m., while performing routine stop-and-search duties along Ugbolu/Asaba Road, halted a 28-year-old individual recognized as Chinoso Igwemma.
Authorities stated that the individual’s questionable behavior incited a thorough search, during which a modified Beretta pistol was seized from him.
Per the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for Delta Command, the individual is presently in custody and undergoing interrogation.
In an analogous occurrence, members of the Crack Squad, while conducting a regular patrol in the Bonsaac vicinity of Asaba, halted a tricycle carrying three male passengers.
The individuals were recognized as Umuadi Benjamin Chinecherem, 30; Nwabueze Kelvin, 28; and Okonkwo Celestine, 30.
“A meticulous search carried out on the trio resulted in the retrieval of one homemade cut-to-size pistol, which was loaded with a live cartridge.”
According to the authorities, inquiries disclosed that the individuals are purportedly connected to illicit activities involving the theft of personal belongings from innocent individuals.
The authorities indicated that efforts continue to unveil the suspects’ criminal syndicate and apprehend additional accomplices.
The Commissioner of Police for Delta State Command, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, in his response, affirmed the Command’s dedication to intelligence-driven policing and proactive crime reduction tactics.
He emphasized that the Command remains committed to dismantling criminal syndicates and guaranteeing the safety of citizens throughout the state.
