Kano Cops Snag Two Stolen Rides in Daring Recovery Operation!



The Kano State Police Command reports that it has retrieved two stolen vehicles during distinct operations in Tarauni and Kumbotso local government regions.

In a statement released on Sunday, the police representative, Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, indicated that the recoveries are part of ongoing initiatives to enhance intelligence-driven and visibility-based policing throughout the state.

He elaborated that the operations demonstrate the command’s “renewed dedication to proactive crime prevention, management, and control.”

The first incident involved a Toyota Corolla that was taken in Abuja. According to the statement, the vehicle, a 2004 model with registration number DRA 735AA, was seized on April 22 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Wuse.

Kiyawa mentioned that police operatives responded promptly after receiving reliable information.
“Operatives from the Command’s Special Intervention Squad (SIS) immediately sprang into action,” he noted.

The vehicle was subsequently located in Darmarawa Layout, Naibawa region of Tarauni LGA.

The police suspect that the car was abandoned by an alleged serial car thief who remains at large.

The spokesperson added that efforts are continuing to apprehend the suspect.

In the subsequent case, a Kia Optima belonging to a local resident, Musbahu Baba Muhammad, was taken on April 24 near a mosque along BUK Road.

The police reported that officers from Sharada Division commenced investigations right after the incident was filed. With assistance from members of the Zone 5 Ja’en Vigilante Group, the vehicle was recovered early the following day in Ja’en Quarters.

“The stolen vehicle has been retrieved and is now securely stored,” Kiyawa stated, adding that investigations are ongoing to identify those accountable.

The Commissioner of Police in Kano, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, commended the officers involved for their professionalism, prompt response, and commitment to duty.

He also expressed gratitude to members of the vigilante group and the general public for supplying valuable information.

Kiyawa emphasized that the success of these operations underscores the significance of community policing.

He remarked that the command remains dedicated to safeguarding lives and properties and urged residents to remain vigilant.

“The Command encourages the public to stay alert and continue providing useful information regarding suspicious individuals and activities,” he stated.

Police assert that efforts are ongoing to apprehend all suspects linked to the thefts.
