“Breaking Free: Davido Declares Independence from Grammy and Western Approval”

Nigerian artist, David Adeleke, widely recognized as Davido, has expressed openly about his path in the music scene thus far and what admirers can anticipate from him in the forthcoming segment of his profession.

During his appearance on the Official UK Afrobeats Chart Show with Eddie Kadi, Davido mentioned that he has accomplished a great deal in his career, performing globally and receiving honors, including consecutive multiple Grammy nominations in the previous three years.

He clarified that he is satisfied with his accomplishments, and now aims to reconnect with his origins by creating unapologetic African music rather than blending Western influences to attract international crowds.

Davido stated, “At this stage of my career, I have played everywhere, sold out every venue, and attended three Grammys in the past three years. The upcoming music is very much Davido, it is distinctly African. We have done it, so I am not particularly aiming to pursue western sounds.”

The artist also discussed the backing he receives from his South African supporters, asserting that “80 percent” of the population of South Africa recognizes him and appreciates his music.

Davido has partnered with numerous South African musicians over the years and has earned various certifications from the nation’s music industry.
