Previous Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, reached the Federal High Court in Kaduna on Tuesday morning under strict security for his arraignment.
The former governor was transported to the court premises at approximately 9:00 a.m. in a Hilux vehicle and remained inside for over 30 minutes before being guided into the courtroom around 9:34 a.m.
El-Rufai was extensively protected as operatives of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission and the Department of State Services formed a security perimeter around him entering the courtroom.
Present at the proceedings were reporters who arrived at the venue as early as 7:00 a.m. but were denied entry into the courtroom by DSS personnel.
Security was heightened around the court premises situated at the old Nigerian Defence Academy, with heavily armed officers deployed from the morning hours.
Drivers were compelled into a single lane from the Ungwan Sarki direction through Kawo, resulting in traffic disturbances as vehicle movement in the area was limited.
The arraignment of El-Rufai before the Federal High Court in Kaduna on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, was previously disclosed by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission.
Its Head of Media and Public Communications, John Odey, in a statement clarified that El-Rufai would be arraigned alongside one Joel Adoga in case number FHC/KD/73/2026.
