Fiery Chaos in Kaduna: CNG Bus Blast Wrecks Three Vehicles

An early morning blast at Mando Motor Park in Kaduna has ruined three high-end buses powered by Compressed Natural Gas (CNG).

The occurrence took place at approximately 3 am while the vehicles were stationed in preparation for interstate journeys later in the day.

A manager of Silver Transport Company, who preferred to remain unnamed and whose buses were impacted, stated the blast unfolded while the vehicles were immobile.

He noted that the buses were recently acquired, adding, “No one was present inside the vehicles. They were parked to collect passengers this morning.”

He elaborated that the buses relied on CNG, voicing apprehensions over its usage.

He continued by stating that operatives from the Nigeria Police Force and various pertinent agencies were present at the site to investigate the cause of the blast.

“They are conducting inquiries to determine what led to the incident,” he mentioned.

The Kaduna State Police Command, in a statement, clarified that the minor explosion that occurred in the early hours of Sunday was not a bomb blast.

A statement released by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Mansir Hassan, on Sunday remarked, “We wish to clarify the facts regarding accounts of a purported explosion in Kaduna by certain media outlets.

“On 5th April, 2026, at around 0300 hours, a loud noise was reported at Silver Luxury Travel, a premium bus transportation company situated at Mando motor park where the vehicles operated on gas rather than diesel or petrol at Mando Garage, Kaduna.

“Upon receiving the notification, detectives were swiftly sent to the location. Initial findings indicated that the incident involved a LNG-powered luxury bus belonging to Silver Luxury Travel, which exploded due to excessive filling of its gas tank.

“The vehicle has since been removed to a secure location, and the area has been cordoned off. There were no injuries or property damage reported, and normal operations have resumed in the vicinity.

“The Commissioner of Police, Kaduna State Command, CP Muhammad Rabiu, has ordered a comprehensive investigation to identify the circumstances surrounding the incident to prevent future occurrences, and the bomb disposal unit of the Nigeria Police Force has been deployed to the location.

“The Kaduna State Police Command urges the public to confirm information before disseminating, particularly concerning security matters, as the circulation of unverified reports can lead to unnecessary alarm.”
