Personnel of the Nigerian Army have eradicated suspected terrorist strongholds during a clearance mission in Matazu Local Government Region of Katsina State.
This was revealed in a post shared by security analyst and counter-insurgency specialist, Zagazola Makama via his X account.
Security insiders informed Zagazola Makama that the mission was executed at around 8:00 a.m. on April 23 by personnel of the 17 Brigade in partnership with members of the Civilian Watch group.
The insiders mentioned that the personnel conducted an assault operation aimed at targeting identified terrorist hideaways in Malamawa, Jikamshi, and Musawa towns.
Though no engagement occurred with the suspected terrorists during the operation, the personnel effectively dismantled the strongholds, obliterated life-support facilities within the camps, and retrieved one motorcycle.
As per the insiders, the mission was part of ongoing endeavors to deprive criminal elements of operational freedom and dismantle their bases across the state.
They also noted that personnel remain vigilant and continue to oversee the general area to avert the re-emergence of terrorist camps.
