
Agents of the Nigeria Police Force in Katsina State have thwarted an assault by alleged bandits and liberated kidnapped individuals along the Sabuwa–Kaya route.
As reported by security specialist Zagazola Makama on X, the event, which transpired on April 9 around 8:17 p.m., was noted near Unguwar Liman village in Sabuwa Local Government Area.
Informants disclosed to Makama that the assailants, reportedly well-armed, had obstructed the roadway and seized numerous travelers prior to the intervention of law enforcement officials.
The informants elaborated that the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) swiftly deployed tactical units to the location after receiving emergency reports.
Upon arrival, the police confronted the bandits in a gun battle, compelling them to retreat into the forest, with signs suggesting that some may have incurred gunshot injuries.
“The informants indicated that the police engaged the bandits in a shooting exchange, compelling them to withdraw into the forest with potential gunshot wounds,” Makama recounted.
Throughout the operation, the abducted individuals were safely rescued and confirmed to be unhurt.
The liberated individuals were recognized as Alhaji Sani Kadanya, 50, from Tashar Kadanya village in Birnin Gwari LGA; Basiru Aminu, 27, from Kutaimashi village in Birnin Gwari LGA; Aliyu Musa, 30, from Unguwar Gajere village in Birnin Gwari LGA; Ummi Bello, 20, from Sabuwa LGA; and Abubakar Abdullahi, 35, also from Unguwar Gajere village.
Security informants revealed that the region has been secured and is under observation as clearance operations proceed to pursue the escaping suspects.
“Security informants noted that the area had been sealed off for clearance operations aimed at pursuing the fleeing suspects,” Makama highlighted.
