Heroic Troops Thwart Bandit Assault and Save Five Lives in Zamfara

Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA have successfully thwarted a bandit assault on travelers and rescued five victims along the Sabon Gida–Anguwan Rogo route in Gusau Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

This was shared in a post on Tuesday by security analyst and counter-insurgency specialist, Zagazola Makama via his X handle.
Security sources indicated that the event took place around 8:25 pm on March 29 when forces from 1 Brigade Counter-Terrorism Unit 2, stationed at Forward Operating Base Sabon Garin, reacted to reports of the assault.

According to the sources, the troops confronted the bandits in a gunfight, compelling them to retreat and leaving behind five victims, one of whom had sustained gunshot injuries.

The sources further stated that the troops located the body of one victim at the scene, which was later handed over to relatives.

The injured victim was transferred to a healthcare facility for treatment.

Troops have sustained an elevated presence in the region to avert further assaults and guarantee the safety of inhabitants.
