
Agents from the Department of Operations, Delta State Police Command, headed by CP Oyeniyi Yemi, have detained two alleged armed robbers along Ogbolu/Illah Road in Asaba.
The individuals in question are thirty-two-year-old Mustapha Musa (M) and thirty-four-year-old Iyanosor Ogbizi (M).
They were apprehended on 29 March 2026 at approximately 0900hrs, NAIJATAB reports.
The police also seized a locally crafted cut-to-size firearm loaded with two live cartridges.
Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, validated the report in a statement sent to our correspondent in Warri.
The police spokesperson stated, “On 29 March 2026 at roughly 0900hrs, agents from the Department of Operations, Delta State Police Command, while patrolling along Ogbolu/Illah Road, stopped a tricycle carrying two passengers under unusual circumstances.”
According to SP Edafe, “Upon noticing the agents, the tricycle operator pretended to comply, while one of the passengers abruptly disembarked and fled into nearby vegetation to escape capture.
“The suspect was immediately chased. When he saw the operatives, he attempted to resist arrest by assaulting them with a wooden object but was overpowered and taken into custody.
“A search conducted on the tricycle resulted in the recovery of a locally manufactured cut-to-size firearm loaded with two live cartridges, confirming malicious intent.
“The suspect, later recognized as Mustapha Musa (M), aged 32, from Kogi State, along with the tricycle operator, Iyanosor Ogbizi (M), aged 34, were apprehended and placed under arrest.”
SP Edafe emphasized that, “Both suspects are detained, and the recovered items have been forwarded for further investigation.”
In the meantime, the Delta State Police Command, under the supervision of CP Yemi John Oyeniyi, has reaffirmed its commitment to eliminate all forms of criminal activity in the state.
