
The Police Command in Ondo State has announced the rescue of five individuals who were captured during a robbery incident that transpired between Ita-Oba and Oboto along Ondo Road on Thursday within the state.
DSP Abayomi Jimoh, the spokesperson for the command, disclosed this information in a statement on Thursday in Akure, noting that the occurrence took place at approximately 0520 hours.
Jimoh clarified that the individuals were traveling in a commercial vehicle on their way to Akure from Ondo when they were intercepted and taken into the bush by the armed robbers, who seized their belongings.
“In response to the distress signal, the command’s operatives, together with the Ondo State Security Network, Amotekun Corps, executed a focused operation, which resulted in the successful rescue of the victims from the bush, without any injuries.
“Additionally, three suspects have been detained in connection with the robbery and are identified as Akinyemi Olamilekan ‘m’; Mutaka Ali ‘m’; and Atiku Abubakar ‘m’.
“The suspects have provided valuable statements that are assisting the investigation and will face charges in court upon completion.” he stated.
Jimoh, therefore, assured the community of the command’s ongoing dedication to ensuring the safety and security of lives and properties along highways and major commercial routes.
As per him, the regular monitoring, strategic patrols, and intelligence-driven operations within the Area of Responsibility are still in progress to avert such criminal acts and guarantee swift responses to emergencies.
The police spokesperson urged the public to stay alert, report any suspicious actions to the nearest police station, and supply timely, credible, and actionable information that could aid law enforcement in protecting the community.
