Unmasking the Culprits: Chollom Exposes the Truth Behind Plateau’s Violence

Dickson Chollom, a member of the Plateau State House of Assembly representing the Barkin Ladi region, has stated that the usage of the phrase “unknown gunmen” for recent violent occurrences is no longer accurate.

Chollom mentioned that those accountable for these events have now been identified, emphasizing that they are aware of the individuals behind the slayings.

The Chairman of the House Committee on Works and Transport conveyed this message during a visit to Heipang District in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area, where he extended condolences and gathered details following an assault that resulted in three fatalities and left one individual with severe injuries.

The deceased have been recognized as Marvin Choji, 23, Bitrus Choji, 24, and Daniel Dung, 59. In addition, Stephen Davou, 48, is currently undergoing treatment for serious wounds.

In a communiqué issued by his Senior Strategic Media and Communication Advisor, George Lambert, Chollom revealed that one suspect has been apprehended and has provided statements implicating others involved in the assault.

“We will no longer refer to the perpetrators as ‘unknown gunmen’. One of the individuals implicated has been captured and has disclosed the whereabouts of others who assisted him in executing this heinous act.”

He remarked that the situation should not be perceived as routine, and he underscored that the residents of Barkin Ladi and Plateau State require transparent information and justice.

Chollom urged security agencies to communicate the findings of their inquiries with the public, including confessions made, the identities of those involved, and their detention locations, to demonstrate to citizens that justice is being pursued.

He also called upon the Plateau State Commissioner of Justice to take responsibility for the case and ensure that the prosecution is conducted comprehensively.

“This is not the usual procedure. The public deserves to know the facts, and those who are culpable must be held fully accountable under the law,” he added.
