Heroic Troops Save Five Hostages and Aid Injured in Sokoto Crisis



Members of the Nigerian Army have freed five abducted individuals and evacuated two injured persons following an assault in Sokoto State.

The occurrence was revealed in a message posted on X on Saturday by security expert Zagazola Makama.

Per the message, the assault transpired late at night on April 1 in Chacho Village, Wurno Local Government Area, after reports surfaced of militant actions in the vicinity.

Forces from the 8 Division reportedly reacted swiftly to a distress signal. Upon arrival, they discovered that two civilians had sustained gunshot wounds during the assault.
The injured individuals were promptly taken to a local hospital for care.

The troops subsequently proceeded to chase the assailants along their escape path, but no engagement took place.

Nevertheless, during a subsequent search of the locale, five abducted individuals were found and rescued after being left behind by the escaping assailants.

“The individuals were saved unharmed and have since been reunited with their families, while the injured individuals are being treated,” the source stated.

The operation concluded without further complications, as troops continued clearance missions in the vicinity to avert any additional assaults.
