“Operation Rescue: Forces Dismantle Terror Networks, Liberate Hostages, and Seize Hidden Arsenal”



The Nigerian Army (NA) announced that its forces have achieved victories across various fronts within the past 24 hours, disrupting terrorists’ logistical frameworks, confronting hostile actors, and protecting at-risk communities through synchronized, intelligence-led operations.

This information was shared on its social media platform, indicating that in the North-East Theatre, troops from the 192 Battalion successfully carried out an ambush on ISWAP/JAS terrorists near Kuranabassa Village, Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State.

The announcement stated that troops recovered one AK-47 rifle, one AK-47 magazine filled with 12 rounds of 7.62x 39mm ammunition, an AK-47 rifle top cover, and various other items.

In a related development, troops of the 27 Task Force Brigade, in collaboration with the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), intercepted three vehicles transporting suspected terrorist supplies along the Yunusari–Bukarti–Ka la/Gamari route.

This operation led to the apprehension of 5 suspects and the recovery of diverse logistical items, including solar panels, water pump machines, construction materials, mobile phones, and cash.

Furthermore, troops of the 12 Brigade, while executing a snap checkpoint operation along the Obajana–Kabba Road in Kogi State, intercepted a vehicle carrying suspected terrorist supplies, detained two suspected couriers, and confiscated 314 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, three AK-47 magazines, mobile phones, and valid identification documents.

In the North-West Theatre, troops from the 17 Brigade conducted offensive clearance operations across recognized terrorist strongholds in Musawa and Matazu Local Government Areas of Katsina State.

During these operations, numerous terrorist life-support structures were identified and demolished in Gidan Mai-Gona, Gidan Dangodo, Sabongari Nagalawa, Kurna Dogon Tsamiya, Gidan Karo, and Gidan Lawal Natapi villages, effectively denying criminal factions operational bases.

In Plateau State, troops involved in Operation ENDURING PEACE responded promptly to distress signals and rescued 12 civilians who were trapped by insurgents, while injured victims were evacuated for immediate medical care.

Additionally, in the South-South and North-Central regions, troops maintained operational pressure on criminal networks. In Rivers State, troops discovered and safely dealt with approximately 3,250 litres of suspected illegally refined petroleum products along Refinery Road in Eleme Local Government Area.

In Taraba State, troops from the 114 Battalion arrested 9 suspected terrorist informants associated with a notorious criminal kingpin, while dismantling recognized hideouts used by criminal factions to orchestrate their actions.
