Shettima’s Heartfelt Visit to Kebbi: Honoring Fallen Heroes and Their Families

Vice President Kashim Shettima on Tuesday made a condolence trip to Kebbi State following recent assaults in various areas of the state and the passing of the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Muhammad Usman-Zuru.

Shettima, who visited the Government House in Birnin Kebbi, imparted the sympathy of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to Governor Nasir Idris, families of deceased security personnel, and the residents of the state.

He also expressed his sympathies to the state government concerning the demise of the Speaker, recalling that he passed away on April 6 in a hospital in Cairo, Egypt, after a lengthy illness.

The vice president stated he was in the state on the instruction of the president to empathize with the government and citizens regarding the occurrences.

“We are present to convey our sympathies to the families of the security personnel who perished in the line of duty, as well as regarding the passing of the Speaker,” he remarked.

He characterized the assaults in Shanga Local Government Area and the killings of security personnel in Giron Masa as unfortunate, adding that the Federal Government stands in unity with the state.

Shettima also mentioned that officials from the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, were included in the delegation to assist affected communities.

In response, Idris expressed gratitude to the president for the visit, labeling it as a sign of support for the state during a challenging period.

The governor reported that approximately 11 individuals, including security personnel, were slain in an ambush while attending to a distress call in Shanga Local Government Area.

He also revealed that the state government had offered financial assistance to the victims of the assaults and the families of the deceased.
