The Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrosheed Akanbi, has proposed that some Nigerians might advocate for a constitutional amendment to permit President Bola Tinubu to pursue a third term in office.
The royal made this statement in a congratulatory message released via his spokesperson, Ibrahim Alli, to celebrate Tinubu’s 74th birthday, describing the president as a resolute leader who has established a new pillar of optimism for the nation.
“Numerous Nigerians may request a constitutional alteration for Tinubu to serve more than two terms in office. He is a leader who comprehends his responsibilities,” he remarked.
Oluwo commended Tinubu’s governance approach, emphasizing that his administration has adopted a decisive approach against practices that formerly obstructed economic advancement.
He also highlighted what he referred to as significant economic enhancements under the present administration.
As per his observations, achievements consist of a more robust naira, an uptick in foreign reserves from approximately $1bn to between $49.5bn and $50.45bn as of late February/March 2026, in addition to improved economic metrics.
The monarch credited these advancements to crucial policy changes such as exchange rate harmonization, elevated oil production, and an uptick in foreign investment influx.
