A previous Deputy Governor of Kano State, Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, has stepped down from the New Nigerian Peoples Party.
NAIJATAB had previously reported his departure from the administration of Governor Abba Yusuf on Friday.
In a resignation note dated March 29, 2026, and directed to the Chairman of the party in Gwarzo Ward, Gwarzo Local Government Area, the former Deputy announced that his choice takes immediate effect.
“I am writing to officially inform you of my resignation from the New Nigerian People’s Party (NNPP) Kano State Chapter, effective today, 29 March, 2026,” he expressed.
The former deputy governor mentioned that his choice followed extensive consultations and thoughtful evaluation of the present political climate.
“This decision comes after profound contemplation and extensive discussions with my political colleagues, supporters, and well-wishers throughout the state,” he stated.
He further noted that recent shifts in the political arena necessitated a reevaluation of his affiliation with the party.
“Recent political shifts and the changing political environment have compelled me to reassess my affiliation in the interest of the citizens and the future of our state and country,” Gwarzo clarified.
According to him, his choice was motivated by the necessity to pursue an alternative political trajectory that aligns with his personal vision.
“My decision is driven by patriotic motives and the desire to follow a political course that coincides with my aspirations for effective governance, democratic principles, and sustainable advancement of our beloved state,” he noted.
Gwarzo also conveyed gratitude to the leadership and members of the party for the assistance he obtained during his tenure with them.
“I sincerely wish to thank the leadership and members of the party for the collaboration, respect, and support I received during my time with the party,” he stated.
“I will always be thankful for the opportunity granted to me under the party’s platform,” he added.
He concluded the letter by extending his best regards to the party leadership.
“Please accept my highest respects and best wishes,” he expressed.
