“APC Legacy Group Unveils Trio of Contenders for Kano’s Deputy Governor Position”

APC legacy stakeholders have presented three candidates to Abba Kabir Yusuf as nominees for the vacant Deputy Governor position.

In a declaration made in Kano on Sunday, Magaji Umar Gwammaja stated that the roster comprises Rabiu Sulaiman Bichi, Kabiru Alhassan Rurum, and Murtala Sule Garo.

He remarked that this action follows the resignation of former Deputy Governor Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo on March 27, 2026.

Gwammaja characterized the nominees as seasoned leaders, emphasizing that Bichi stands out due to his management experience in both state and federal capacities.

He also pointed out Rurum’s legislative expertise and Garo’s extensive tenure in local governance and the state executive council.

“The list will be sent to security organizations for thorough vetting to confirm they fulfill the necessary qualifications,” Gwammaja stated.

He mentioned that following the evaluations, the governor is anticipated to consult with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“This process will ensure national coherence and political alignment. After these high-level discussions, the governor will submit the final chosen name to the Kano State House of Assembly for formal vetting and confirmation in accordance with constitutional regulations,” he noted.
