Kwara South Security Joint Watch has expressed disapproval of the indifferent attitude of leaders within the senatorial district towards the problem of insecurity in the region.
NAIJATAB reports that the security watch issued a warning alert on Saturday, mere hours before an assault on the ECWA church at Omugo in the Oro-Ago community within Ifelodun LGA on Sunday morning.
Eight congregants were kidnapped by the armed assailants, including the spouse of the church’s leader, yet three victims were subsequently rescued.
A declaration from the Coordinator of the Joint Security Watch, Elder Olaitan Zubairu, on Monday conveyed indignation and disappointment that leaders did not take action despite prior alerts.
“It is time for proactive governance,” Zubairu stated.
“We extend our sincere sympathies to the victims and families impacted by the recent bandit attack on the ECWA Church in Omugo, Oro-Ago community.
“Politicians have conveyed messages of sympathy, but we call for tangible action. We require advanced technology, awareness, and united efforts to safeguard our neighborhoods. Collaborate with security agencies, support local initiatives, and advocate for genuine solutions.
“Enough is enough. Demonstrate action, not mere declarations. Let’s unite to protect Kwara South,” the statement concluded.
