
The Kwara State Police Command has verified an assault on the Police Mobile Force Camp located at Nuku Village, near Kaiama, within the Kaiama Local Government Area of the state.
As reported by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Adetoun Ejire Adeyemi in Ilorin on Friday, the violent assault that resulted in the deaths of five forest rangers took place in the early hours of Friday, April 10, 2026.
The representative stated that “Around 03:45hrs, armed groups executed a synchronized assault on the PMF Camp at Nuku village where five members of the National Forest Guards were lethally injured by armed robbers, and significant destruction was inflicted on a patrol vehicle that belonged to the police personnel before the PMF staff in the camp successfully drove off the attackers.”
The state’s Commissioner of Police, Ojo Adekimi conveyed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and denounced the attack in the strongest possible terms.
Nonetheless, the police command assured the community that strategic and intelligence-based operations have commenced to apprehend the offenders while ongoing surveillance of the situation is being maintained to ensure the protection of residents and avert additional security violations.
He urged the public to work in collaboration with security forces by offering any pertinent information that might assist the inquiry into the event.
