“2027 Presidential Aspirations: Igbo Unity Requires Northern and Western Alliances, Says APGA”

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Sly Ezeokenwa, has disclosed the reasons behind the party’s coalition with President Bola Tinubu in anticipation of the 2027 general elections.

During an interview on Arise Television on Monday, Ezeokenwa stated that an Igbo presidency cannot become a reality without a national coalition.

He emphasized that the party requires some form of partnership since an Igbo individual alone cannot truly secure the presidency without collaboration with individuals from either the North or the Western region.

He further noted that APGA aligns with the same philosophy of ‘Progressivism’ shared with the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.

“Political organizations possess what we refer to as ideologies. Should you review the manifesto of APGA, you will discern the principles of APGA as a political entity, and our foundation is primarily based on progressivism, which is the ideology we hold in common with the APC.

“Now, we are indicating that if you examine the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Tinubu, evaluate the manifesto of APGA, and observe the manifesto of APC, one aspect stands out.

“What we have in common is the progressivism that we all advocate, where ultimately, the most crucial aspect is that we instill progressive ideologies aimed at improving the lives of Nigerians.

“At this point, what we intend to accomplish as a political entity is to align with Mr. President, as we are convinced that based on the coalition or agreement established prior to 1999, which asserts that there should be rotational presidency of eight years for the North and eight years for the South,” he expressed.
