
Members of the 4 Brigade, Benin City, have liberated two female abduction victims in Auchi, Etsako West Local Government Area of Edo State.
NAIJATAB reports that Captain Kennedy Anyanwu, Assistant Director of Army Public Relations, shared this in a statement provided to journalists on Monday, March 30, 2026, in Benin City.
Anyanwu indicated that the female victims, recognized as Odio Momoh, aged 17, and Sonia Momoh, aged 23, were saved by troops in collaboration with members from the Nigerian Army School of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering, NASEME, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, the Nigeria Police Force, and local vigilantes.
“On March 27, 26, troops obtained a distress notification regarding the abduction of two girls, specifically Odio Momoh, aged 17, and Sonia Momoh, aged 23, from a residence behind the fence of the Nigerian Army School of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering (NASEME) in Auchi, Etsako West Local Government Area of Edo State.
“Promptly, troops from 4 Brigade, alongside personnel from NASEME and local vigilantes, launched a pursuit into the forest heading toward the kidnappers’ location.
“As a result, on approximately 28 Mar 26, realizing they were nearly encircled, the criminals abandoned the victims and escaped. The victims were rescued and later reunited with their families,” the statement mentioned.
NAIJATAB learned that the victims were rescued around 8:30 pm.
Reports indicate that the joint security team tracked the kidnappers into the forest along their escape route.
Additionally, it was discovered that operations are ongoing to locate the fleeing suspects and dismantle their criminal network in the region.
