“Tricycles Tamed: Enhanced Security Measures Unveiled Ahead of Eid Festivities in Borno”

The Borno State Police Command has declared a limitation on the transit of tricycles throughout the state from 6 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Friday as part of protective measures for the Eid-el-Fitr festivities.

In an announcement released on Thursday, the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Nahum Daso, informed that inhabitants are encouraged to pray at spots nearest to their residences to reduce movement and avert congestion.

Daso mentioned that operatives from the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit have been assigned to key areas, including major assembly points, to perform comprehensive checks of individuals and items entering specified locations.

He explained that the provisional restriction on tricycle (Keke NAPEP) transit aims to boost security collaboration, facilitate crowd management, and avert potential risks.

He added that personnel have been dispatched in partnership with other security organizations to Eid prayer sites, markets, motor terminals, and other susceptible areas for monitoring, traffic oversight, and public safety.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Naziru Abdulmajid, has instructed Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, and other personnel to heighten patrols, intelligence-driven operations, and visible policing throughout the festive period.

Inhabitants were advised to stay alert, adhere to the instructions, and report any dubious activities to security bodies. Parents and guardians were also counseled to supervise their children, especially in crowded settings.

The command reaffirmed its dedication to upholding law and order before, during, and after the festivities.
