The Assistant Inspector-General of Police overseeing Zone 4, AIG Dankombo F. Morris, has mandated a synchronized and strategic initiative to combat banditry and various violent offenses across Benue, Nasarawa, and Plateau states.
This directive is in accordance with operational guidance from the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, concentrating on preemptively addressing security risks, especially banditry and other violent crimes within the zone.
This information was revealed in a statement on Friday by the Zonal Police Public Relations Officer, Zone 4, ASP Ayo Martins.
He noted that through an enhanced operational framework fueled by intelligence-driven policing and thorough situational awareness, the zone has pinpointed and charted criminal hotspots, transit routes, and logistical supply networks utilized by suspected offenders.
Martins indicated that the AIG has instructed Commissioners of Police in the corresponding states within the zone to deploy specialized tactical units to establish authority in these regions, dismantle criminal networks, and ensure a visible and consistent policing presence in identified high-risk zones across the three states.
He further added that the AIG underscored the necessity for intelligence-led policing to enhance information collection and analysis, consequently facilitating real-time assistance for targeted actions.
Martins stated that AIG Dankombo has also mandated an intensification of both overt and covert surveillance operations in susceptible areas, augmented by stop-and-search procedures conducted strictly based on reliable intelligence.
The AIG additionally instructed Commissioners of Police to bolster inter-agency cooperation through collaborative operations with other allied security agencies in their states, emphasizing that such a coordinated effort would enhance operational harmony, improve intelligence sharing, and ensure a swift and effective reaction to security threats across the zone.
The Assistant Inspector-General of Police assured inhabitants of Benue, Nasarawa, and Plateau states of his steadfast dedication to preserving lives and property.
AIG Dankombo also encouraged citizens to remain vigilant regarding security and to assist ongoing efforts by supplying timely and pertinent information to security agencies.
