Tricycles Banned as Borno Bolsters Security for Eid Festivities

The Borno State Police Command has announced a limitation on the movement of tricycles throughout the state from 6 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Friday as part of safety measures for the Eid-el-Fitr festivities.

In a statement released on Thursday, the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Nahum Daso, mentioned that inhabitants are encouraged to perform prayers at venues nearest to their residences to reduce movement and prevent congestion.

Daso indicated that operatives from the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit have also been stationed at key points, including major gathering areas, to conduct comprehensive screenings of individuals and items entering specified locations.

He stated that the temporary limitation on tricycle (Keke NAPEP) movement is intended to improve security coordination, facilitate crowd management, and avert possible threats.

He further noted that personnel have been assigned in conjunction with other security organizations to Eid prayer sites, markets, motor parks, and other vulnerable areas for monitoring, traffic organization, and public safety.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Naziru Abdulmajid, has instructed Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, and other operatives to amplify patrols, intelligence-driven operations, and visibility policing throughout the holiday period.

Residents were encouraged to stay alert, adhere to the guidelines, and report any suspicious behaviors to security personnel. Parents and guardians were also urged to supervise their children, particularly in crowded settings.

The command reiterated its dedication to upholding law and order before, during, and after the celebrations.
