The National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Rauf Aregbesola has disclosed the reason for the ADC’s defeat in the November 25 Anambra State gubernatorial election and the February 26 Federal Capital Territory (FCT) area council elections.
He made this announcement during the ongoing ADC national convention on Tuesday.
Aregbesola acknowledged that the party faced internal challenges, including insufficient funding and an unprepared framework, which played a role in its failure to achieve success in both elections.
“Our party took part in the 2025 Anambra State and the February 26 FCT local government election.
“We did not succeed for a multitude of reasons, such as the fact that our adversaries leveraged the advantages of incumbency, the monetization of the election process, and the abuse of state resources.
“On our end, we experienced inadequate funding and the overall lack of readiness in our structure.
“Nevertheless, we have taken lessons from these experiences and are prepared for the upcoming gubernatorial elections in Ekiti and Osun states,” he stated.
NAIJATAB had reported that during the FCT Area Council elections, APC secured 5 seats out of 6, leaving the remaining one for the PDP.
