Cult Leader Caught: Shocking Attempted Murder of Student in Edo Unveiled



A suspected member of a cult identified as Emmanuel Keta, hailing from Ogoja in Benue State, has been apprehended by agents of the Edo State Security Corps, ESSC, for attempting to murder a JSS 3 pupil.

NAIJATAB reports that the pupil is recognized as Naomi Monday, from the Agbado community, Iguobazuwa, in Ovia South-West Local Government area of Edo State.

The accused is believed to have been inducted into a cult organization in December 2025, with an objective to eliminate at least 11 youths to attain advancement within the group.

It was gathered that the suspect reportedly invaded the female pupil’s residence wielding a cutlass when she returned from school, with intentions of slaying her. He purportedly inflicted machete wounds on the girl without any provocation.

A source who wished to remain unnamed stated that the girl was saved by neighbors who heard her calling for assistance while the suspect fled the scene to an undisclosed location.

“The victim was the initial target he assaulted in his quest for promotion.

“He was subsequently tracked down and apprehended by operatives of the Edo State Security Corps and handed over to the police for further proceedings,” the source revealed.

Meanwhile, the pupil’s older sister, Esther Monday, has called for justice for her. Esther mentioned that the pupil is presently fighting for her life in the hospital.

Spokesperson of the Edo State Police Command, ASP Eno Ikoedem, who verified the event, stated that the suspect was assigned the task of eliminating a specific number of individuals to finalize his initiation process.

Ikoedem, who addressed journalists, characterized the incident as an attempted murder. She confirmed that the suspect has admitted to the offense.

“The Commissioner of Police, Monday Agbonika, has instructed that the suspect be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further probing,” she added.
