A remorseful member of Boko Haram has confessed to taking the lives of over 100 individuals during his tenure with the militant organization.
This disclosure was featured in a video posted on X, where the ex-combatant conversed with a foreign vlogger at a rehabilitation facility alongside other Boko Haram defectors.
In the footage, the repentant Boko Haram member, speaking through an interpreter, stated that he executed multiple killings while operating within the wilderness.
“I have taken the lives of more than 100 individuals,” he conceded.
He clarified that he became associated with the group at a very tender age and was coerced by senior members to engage in violent acts.
According to his account, “I commenced when I was approximately 10 years old. The seniors provided directives, and we adhered to them.”
The former combatant mentioned that the majority of the murders occurred in secluded regions.
He further added that members of the group were frequently commanded to assault villages.
He also unveiled that women taken during raids were not always killed but were compelled into matrimony with fighters.
“If they seize women, they wed them, because there are limited women in the camp,” he stated.
