
Alleged armed robbers have assaulted members of a community watch group during a regular patrol in Kanoma South District of Maru Local Government Area, Zamfara State, resulting in four individuals wounded.
As stated in a post shared on X by security expert Zagazola Makama, the event took place around 3:30 p.m. on March 27, when the vigilantes were surveilling an area recognized for bandits’ activities.
Informants disclosed to Makama that the assailants initiated the attack abruptly, firing upon the vigilante members amidst the patrol.
One informant elaborated that the ambush led to injuries sustained by four members of the group.
“Following the receipt of the information, security officers arrived at the location, and the injured individuals were transported to the Primary Health Care Centre in Kanoma for medical care,” the informant remarked.
The injured individuals were subsequently taken to the primary health care center in Kanoma, where they are currently undergoing treatment.
The informant further noted that security forces have commenced efforts to apprehend those accountable for the assault and to avert similar incidents in the region.
