“APC Strikes Back: Makinde Faces Backlash for Elevating High Chiefs to Obas”

The Oyo State branch of All Progressives Congress, APC, has denounced the state governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde, for ridiculing the Yoruba traditional institution.

The party voiced its concerns while responding to the promotion of three high chiefs to the rank of Oba in Ibadanland.

NAIJATAB reports that the State government had on Friday inaugurated three High Chiefs as Obas.

The individuals in question are High Chief Akeem Adewoyh, Chief Kola Babalola, and High Chief Sharafadeen Alli.

Alli, who represents the Oyo South Senatorial District, is one of the gubernatorial contenders within the All Progressives Congress, APC.

The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rasidi Adewolu Ladoja, the three individuals, and several prominent natives of Ibadanland were absent from the occasion.

In response, APC stated that Makinde has inscribed a negative chapter for himself in the annals of the state.

In a statement endorsed by its Publicity Secretary, Wasiu Sadare, the APC remarked, “Gov. Makinde trivialized the Yoruba traditional institution today when he presented photographs and vacant chairs as Obas.

“He can never provide any rationale for this disgraceful act, but we are not astonished because we have known him to be an accidental public servant.”
