Governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke, has mandated that temporary staff members of the Osun State University Teaching Hospital, Osogbo, be awarded permanent positions following years of service.
The order was communicated on Monday during the governor’s visit to the facility.
As per a statement from his representative, Olawale Rasheed, the affected personnel had worked for the institution as temporary employees for around 12 years before the governor’s action.
In his address to the employees, Adeleke linked the financial struggles of the state to certain individuals whom he accused of inciting unrest in local government areas.
He stated, “They conspired against our administration. Their intention is to hinder Osun’s progression. However, in spite of their nefarious schemes, Osun continues to thrive and our initiatives are advancing.”
The governor further asserted that his administration is dedicated to ensuring effective governance despite the purported obstacles.
“But with the grace of God and the people, we persevere; our administration is providing effective governance. I will not cease in serving and delivering positive outcomes for our citizens,” he emphasized.
While announcing the transition of the workers’ status, Rasheed highlighted that those affected had remained in temporary roles for more than a decade.
The labor representative at the teaching hospital, Olamide Faniran, praised the governor for this pro-labor initiative.
Faniran also urged ongoing support for the administration, saying, “We are grateful for your backing and assistance to the Osun workers. We witnessed and appreciated your efforts to enhance the lives of the Osun populace.
“We will express our gratitude by significantly voting for your re-election on August 15.”
