
The National Executive Committee, NEC, of the Young Progressives Party, YPP, has established the schedules for the party’s ward, local government, state, and national assemblies.
The NEC also scheduled the date for the party’s national convention and disclosed the fee structure for the various categories of forms.
The resolutions were reached during the 25th gathering of the NEC at the party’s national headquarters in Abuja on Friday, where the calendar for the execution of congresses, primaries, and national conventions was confirmed.
It indicated that its ward assemblies will occur on May 21, 2026, followed by Local Government Assemblies on May 22, 2026, while State-level assemblies will take place on May 23, 2026.
Regarding the primary elections, YPP stated that the House of Assembly primaries will be held on May 24, 2026; House of Representatives & Senate on May 25, 2026; governorship on May 26, 2026, while the national convention and presidential Primary will take place on May 30, 2026.
The party also revealed the fees for its nomination for different elective positions as follows: Expression of Interest will be provided at no cost, House of Assembly is set at N1.5m, House of Representatives – N3 million, Senate – N8 million, Governorship N20 million, and Presidential – N50 million.
The NEC additionally sanctioned a 50% discount on nomination fees for young candidates under 40 years, women, and individuals living with disabilities.
The distribution of nomination forms begins immediately.
For Anambra State, the NEC also determined that the position of State Chairman will be allocated to the Anambra Central Senatorial District, while the position of State Secretary is to remain in the Southern Senatorial District.
The NEC approved that elections at all levels within the Party shall be conducted using both consensus and direct primary methods, in compliance with the Party’s constitution and the Electoral Act.
