“Conquering Insecurity: Sani Urges Nigerian Troops to Eradicate Bandit Threats”

A public affairs specialist and civil society advocate, Ibrahim Mahmood Sani, has urged the Chief of Defense Staff, General Olufemi Oluyede, along with Nigerian forces to amplify initiatives aimed at eradicating bandits, terrorists, and other criminal factions operating within the northern territory of the nation.

Sani articulated this request in a statement released on Wednesday, in light of escalating insecurity in various regions of northern Nigeria.

His comments come after a recent operational trip to Zamfara State, where the Chief of Defence Staff instructed troops to effectively dismantle banditry in the area.

In response to the situation, Sani conveyed his backing for the military’s renewed resolve to tackle insecurity directly. He called on all Nigerians to unify and bolster the armed forces in their struggle against what he termed a shared adversary.

He emphasized that the ongoing murders and heinous acts perpetrated by bandits can no longer be accepted.

“The Chief of Defence Staff has demonstrated that leadership is not practiced from a distance. His presence in Zamfara, his engagement with the troops, and his unequivocal mandate that Nigeria must be secured at all costs, convey a powerful signal that the time for indecision has passed,” Sani stated.

“The battle against banditry is not a fleeting undertaking. It necessitates long-term dedication, and it is reassuring to observe that the leadership of the Armed Forces is emphasizing both operational success and soldier welfare,” he further remarked.
