
The Nigerian Police Force have showcased a significant number of individuals apprehended for diverse unlawful activities.
The individuals were presented to the media in Abuja on Tuesday, having been detained by operatives from the Special Tactical Squad, STS of the Force Intelligence Division.
This briefing encompasses selected operations from the First Quarter of 2026, underscoring the first seven prominent cases addressed by the STS in Kaduna, Nasarawa, Plateau, Taraba, and the Federal Capital Territory.
The Force Public Relations Officer, Anthony Okon Placid, stated that within these seven cases, the STS achieved considerable successes, including the detention of several high-profile individuals, the recovery of firearms and ammunition, and the dismantling of organized criminal groups.
Moreover, the Force indicated that stolen vehicles were retrieved, illegal arms supply networks were disrupted, and abducted victims were rescued.
“These accomplishments exemplify the ongoing dedication of the Nigeria Police Force to intelligence-driven policing and assertive measures against criminal elements,” the Force Spokesman remarked.
Individuals apprehended for stolen vehicles include Abubakar Musa, 36 years, Hassan Umar, 30 years, and Joshua Raphael, 20 years, with ten vehicles of various brands, such as Toyota Hilux trucks, Toyota Corolla cars, a Pontiac Vibe GT, a Honda vehicle, a Lexus automobile, and a Toyota RAV4 recovered.
He mentioned that initial investigations indicate that Abubakar Musa, a dismissed Corporal of the Nigerian Army, last stationed at the Army School of Artillery Kachia in Kaduna State, has been impersonating a serving soldier to avoid capture while executing armed robbery schemes alongside his accomplices.
Others detained include four suspects of armed banditry:
Abdumumini Abubakar, 40, Maikano Gambo, 47, Saleh Thompson, 47, and Oyonyi Odango, 40, with recovered arms comprising four AK-47 rifles with magazines; eighty rounds of 7.62 x 39mm ammunition; one locally made pistol with twenty rounds of 9mm ammunition. Operatives from the FID-STS, acting on reliable intelligence, apprehended Abdumumini Abubakar, Maikano Gambo, Saleh Thompson, and Oyonyi Odango on 7th March 2026 in Tayu, Sanga LGA of Kaduna State.
The Police reported that preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects are connected to armed robbery and banditry activities in the area.
They also captured two individuals, Abubakar Yusuf, 40, and Sani Abubakar, 30, following a report regarding the abduction of one Sidi Abubakar in Toto, Nasarawa State, who had been kidnapped over two months ago. Operatives of the FID-STS apprehended Abubakar Yusuf and Sani Abubakar on 18th March 2026.
It was indicated that preliminary investigations revealed that Abubakar Yusuf and Sani Abubakar participated in the kidnapping of Sidi Abubakar, for whom a ransom of Six Million Naira was requested.
Further investigations uncovered that Abubakar Yusuf had approached the victim’s relative to demand the sum of one million five hundred thousand naira. After receiving the payment, Abubakar Yusuf vanished, and the victim was not released.
Others displayed for various offenses on Tuesday include Saminu Abdullahi, 25, Yusuf Shuaibu, 23, Abubakar Bature, 19, Yau Murtala, Bello Suleiman, 19, Abdul Kareem Nuhu, 36, Ahmed Musa, 28, Chisom Goodnews, 32, and Ahmed Adamu, 22.
