OAU Secures Victory Over FUTA in Thrilling National STEM Showdown
The Obafemi Awolowo University, OAU, has risen as the ultimate champion of a national Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) competition after triumphing over the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), in the final showdown.
The institution, while revealing the news in a statement from its Public Relations Officer, Abiodun Olarewaju, on Tuesday, indicated that the competition included esteemed universities from all over Nigeria.
According to the statement, “The contest entailed a demanding selection process that evaluated participants’ understanding, creativity, and problem-solving skills in STEM fields.
“OAU progressed to the final round alongside FUTA after excelling over other competing institutions in previous stages of the contest.”
The grand finale, characterized as fiercely competitive, highlighted impressive displays of creativity, collaboration, and technical proficiency from both universities.
At the conclusion of the competition, OAU claimed the leading position, surpassing FUTA in overall results to secure the national championship.
In response to the news, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Adebayo Simeon Bamire, remarked that the triumph highlighted the university’s enduring dedication to academic excellence.
“This significant accomplishment reaffirms our lasting legacy in science and technology education, research, and innovation,” Bamire stated.
He further noted that the students’ performance mirrored their discipline, creativity, and the commitment of the institution’s academic staff.
“This is a proud milestone in the history of our university and a testament to our status as a leader in STEM education, research, and innovation,” he asserted.
Also sharing thoughts, the Global President of the Great Ife Alumni Association, Leye Falode, praised the students for their perseverance and collaboration.
“This victory is the result of thorough preparation and the supportive academic environment afforded by the university. Our students have once again demonstrated their capability to excel at the highest levels,” he expressed.
The university administration commended the team for upholding the institution’s honor and expressed gratitude to stakeholders whose assistance contributed to this success, reaffirming its commitment to fostering talent and maintaining academic excellence.
