The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, Abdullahi Fodio University of Science and Technology, Kebbi State chapter, has threatened to initiate an industrial strike concerning unresolved welfare matters.
This was revealed in a statement released on Wednesday by the union’s president, Dr Musa Isah Fakai.
The union indicated that the mutually agreed compensation packages between the Federal Government and ASUU have yet to be enacted, despite multiple communications with the university administration and the Kebbi State Ministry of Higher Education.
It also detailed non-receipt of academic earned allowances, wage awards, and delays in promotions and the disbursement of promotion arrears as part of its complaints.
According to the union, annual salary increments have not been applied for several years, further deteriorating the welfare of academic personnel.
ASUU stated that it had engaged the university administration and pertinent authorities without a favorable response, cautioning that it may be compelled to cease work if the matters remain unaddressed.
The union, nevertheless, expressed faith in Governor Nasir Idris to tackle the issues, mentioning that these concerns may not have been communicated to him.
