A presumed extremist has been detained by forces in Kaduna State, as new intelligence indicates violent disputes among competing bandit groups operating throughout various regions of the state.
This event was disclosed by security expert, Zagazola Makama in a post on X, where he referenced insights from military personnel.
According to these sources, the individual was captured around 6:45 p.m. on April 16, 2026, at the Forward Operating Base in Afaka, situated in the Igabi Local Government Area.
Makama reports that preliminary findings imply the suspect escaped from a terrorist stronghold in Sabon Birni after lethal confrontations between two rival bandit leaders, Dogo Gide and Kabiru. The skirmishes are reportedly still occurring along the Kachia–Kagarko–Chikun corridor, an area frequently plagued by instability.
Security officials state the suspect is still in detention as inquiries progress. “We are striving to authenticate the assertions made by the suspect and acquire actionable intelligence on the structure and movements of these factions,” a source familiar with the operation mentioned.
Another source suggested that the internal conflicts among the groups might indicate diminishing unity. “The altercations reveal fractures within their networks, and this could be exploited to disrupt their operations more effectively,” the source highlighted.
