Ghanaian Suspect Caught for Allegedly Hijacking Police Armored Car

A man known as Ebenezer Frimpong has been apprehended for supposedly stealing an armoured vehicle belonging to the Ghana Police Service at Nkawie Market, situated in the Ashanti Region of Ghana.

According to Zagazola Makama, the incident took place when the driver of the police armoured vehicle temporarily stepped away, leaving the engine running in the bustling market area.

Frimpong reportedly seized the opportunity, got into the vehicle, and drove away, leading to an immediate reaction from security personnel.

Law enforcement officials initiated a coordinated chase after receiving alerts regarding the theft, tracking the suspect along the Nkawie–Mim route.

He was ultimately intercepted and detained near Mim following what authorities described as a rapid and organized operation.

“The suspect was caught without any further issues, and the vehicle was retrieved intact,” a security source stated.

Authorities confirmed that the armoured vehicle was reclaimed without damage and has since been returned to police possession.

Frimpong remains in detention as inquiries continue to ascertain the full details surrounding the event.
