From Darkness to Redemption: A Boko Haram Survivor’s Journey After Taking Over 100 Lives

A remorseful member of Boko Haram has confessed to taking the lives of over 100 individuals during his association with the militant organization.

This disclosure was revealed in a video circulated on X, where the former combatant spoke during a dialogue with a foreign vlogger at a rehabilitation facility alongside other repentant Boko Haram members.

In the footage, the remorseful Boko Haram member, using an interpreter, stated that he conducted numerous executions while operating in the wilderness.

“I have taken the lives of more than 100 people,” he confessed.

He clarified that he joined the group at a very tender age and was coerced by senior members to engage in aggressive acts.

As he explained, “I began when I was around 10 years old. The seniors issued commands, and we adhered to them.”

The ex-combatant noted that the majority of the killings transpired in isolated locations.

He further mentioned that group members were frequently commanded to assault villages.

He also disclosed that women captured during raids were not always executed but were compelled to marry fighters.

“When they capture women, they wed them, for there are few women in the camp,” he stated.
