
The Abia State Police Command reports that it recorded a total of 142 incidents of various criminal activities between January and April 2nd, 2026, resulting in the apprehension of 226 individuals.
The Commissioner of Police, Abia State Command, CP Danladi Isa, who made this announcement during a press briefing in his office on Thursday, indicated that numerous cases were meticulously examined and presented in court, adding that certain individuals were held in correctional facilities while others are facing prosecution.
He mentioned that the Command investigated a total of 13 cult-related incidents, apprehending 23 individuals who were brought before the court, from where they were placed in correctional custody. He also noted that 32 firearms were seized during the operations.
The Commissioner, who pointed out that five cult-related incidents are presently under investigation, underscored that these efforts are part of the Command’s unwavering stance against cultism and its dedication to maintaining peace and security throughout the State.
He disclosed that the Command has rescued numerous trafficked or stolen children, recovered 46 firearms of diverse types, 16 rounds of ammunition or cartridges, and dismantled criminal organizations operating in the State.
“These sustained operational efforts have notably contributed to a decline in offenses such as armed robbery, kidnapping, homicide, defilement, sexual assault, child trafficking, unlawful firearm possession, theft, burglary, aggravated assault, malicious damage, and advance fee fraud, among others,” CP Danladi Isa stated.
He also mentioned that stolen vehicles, auto-rickshaws (tricycles), and motorcycles were recovered during this period, alongside the rescue of kidnapped victims.
