Christians in Abia State have criticized the founder of Omenala Bu Ndu Na Eziokwu, Mathias Ezeaku, for his remarks regarding the late minister, Rev. Uma Ukpai.
Ezeaku, in a viral clip, stated that the Second Niger Bridge constructed during the tenure of late former President, Mohammadu Buhari, was of greater advantage to the Igbos than the evangelistic missions undertaken by Rev. Uma Ukpai throughout his life.
He additionally asserted that the late former President could be seen as a hero amongst the Igbos if his name is directly contrasted with Reverend Ukpai.
“Between Buhari and Uma Ukpai who was a rescuer to Ndigbo? I am here to inform you that if there is a paradise, Buhari will enter paradise,” the Enugu-born Ezeaku stated.
However, in response to the video, several Christians and other supporters of the late minister deemed Ezeaku’s remarks as an assault on the late Reverend Uma Ukpai, the Igbos, and the Christian community throughout Nigeria as a whole.
Some Christians who replied to Ezeaku, including Benard Nwadiba, James Ukoha, Kalu Uduma, and Mrs. Nene Grace, urged the Omenala Ga Adi promoter to avoid disparaging Igbo figures.
“What is Mathias Ezeaku aiming to accomplish by making an outrageous comparison that is insulting to the Igbo populace?
“Is he aware of the Polytechnic, roads, schools, and other establishments created by Rev Dr. Uma Ukpai during his lifetime?” Kalu Uduma, a pastor from Ohafia, Abia State, remarked.
