Seventeen Arrested in Lagos for Disruptive Behavior on Pedestrian Bridges

Seventeen individuals have been detained by enforcement teams from Lagos State for purported public disturbance on footbridges along the Lagos–Abeokuta Expressway route.

The operation was conducted on Saturday morning from 8am to 10am along the section stretching from Ladipo BRT Terminal to Pleasure BRT Terminal.

As stated by the Lagos State Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, this initiative was a focused enforcement effort carried out by state teams within the locality.

Throughout the operation, enforcement personnel traversed the pedestrian bridges along the route and apprehended 17 persons labeled as miscreants for causing public disruption and engaging in actions that compromise the safety and security of commuters.

“These pedestrian bridges are essential infrastructure designed for the secure transit of pedestrians, not sanctuaries for unlawful activities. We will not permit any individual or group to convert public resources into areas for harassment, extortion, or criminal acts.

“The seventeen apprehended individuals will be processed in accordance with legal protocols,” the Commissioner stated.

The announcement stressed that pedestrian bridges are solely intended for the safe movement of pedestrians and not for any illegal or disruptive activities.

Officials indicated that the detained individuals would be processed in line with the law.
