“Man Faces Court Over Shocking Allegation of Amputating Partner’s Finger in Lagos”

Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency, DSVA, has confirmed the apprehension and arraignment of an individual accused of amputating his partner’s finger in a suspected domestic violence episode that captured attention on social media.

In a release issued on Thursday, the agency indicated it became aware of the situation through a viral clip shared by a TikTok user and swiftly reached out to the victim to provide assistance and ensure the incident was officially reported.

The victim had posted a distressing video on March 22, indicating that she was being treated in an unidentified hospital while appealing for help.

She mentioned that she was unable to upload more explicit proof due to platform limitations and voiced her frustration regarding what she initially viewed as insufficient response from officials.

According to her account, the suspect allegedly assaulted her at her home, caused significant injuries, and escaped with her child while persistently threatening her.

“This has actually been occurring for quite some time… we don’t live together… I reside independently while he stays separately,” she stated.

Offering an update, the DSVA remarked: “We became aware of the video and quickly reached out to the survivor and ensured that the incident was formally reported to the relevant authorities.”

Initial findings suggest that the episode took place on March 21, 2026, and was documented at the FESTAC Police Station Tactical Squad.

“The incident… is currently being addressed by the Family Support Unit, FESTAC Police Station,” the agency added.

The DSVA revealed that the assault resulted “in serious wounds, including the loss of a finger,” noting that the suspect was subsequently arrested and the case thoroughly examined by law enforcement.

“On 25th March 2026, the case was brought to court at Court 6, MBA Ajegunle,” the statement said, adding that the suspect “has since been detained at Kirikiri Maximum Security Custodial Centre pending further actions.”

The agency also disclosed that the court granted the defendant bail in the amount of 200,000 with two sureties, while the next hearing is scheduled for April 29, 2026.

It further mentioned that the survivor has been directed for psychosocial support to facilitate her recovery and overall well-being.
