“Unbreakable Bonds: Sambo Declares North-South-East Alliance as the Ultimate Political Powerhouse”

Sumner Sambo, Head of News, Arise News, has remarked that the finest political coalitions Nigeria has ever experienced is between the North and Southeast.

He indicated that from the initial republic with Nnamdi Azikiwe, Ahmadu Bello, and Tafawa Balewa, as well as in the subsequent republic with Alex Ekwueme, along with Shehu Shagari, Nigeria enjoyed its most effective political partnerships.

Sambo specifically commented on Peter Obi’s coalition with Rabiu Kwankwaso and the unification of their support teams to collaborate strategically ahead of the upcoming elections.

He also discussed the importance of Peter Obi’s recent trip to Bauchi State, which he described as significant.

“I was in the company of Obi when we traveled across the nation in 2022. The very first destination we visited was Bauchi, where we even had to pay a visit to the Abubakar Tafa Balewa Mausoleum, and whenever I look back at some visuals of Obi, I recall that very first action we took visiting there, and now he is returning, but this time, not alone, nor with only a few companions.

“When we went there in 2022, Obi was somewhat unknown, although the Governor did welcome him then; however, now Obi is revisiting that same state and this time with substantial political gravity alongside very influential politicians. I mean, several prominent leaders from the South East. It’s clear that the delegation was genuinely robust.

“And I believe that the discussions stemming from that meeting will contribute to forging a partnership between the North and the South, particularly the South East, further building connections and alleviating the persistent tensions we’ve experienced.

“Consider this: the most effective political collaborations we’ve had in the country involving the North and South have historically occurred between the North and the South East. This was evident from the First Republic. That arrangement has always existed. Such are the forms of mature politics we ought to witness at this juncture, rather than the rhetoric that surfaces suggesting Nigeria is on the brink of conflict. Some are asserting that the South East will never receive opportunities.

“When I spotted Peter Obi at the Government House in Bauchi, I felt genuinely pleased, as he was received with open arms.”
