
The Taraba State Police Commissioner, Moorkwap Sebastian Dongshal, has reiterated the command’s dedication to upholding law and order throughout the state.
He provided the assurance on Thursday during a high-level meeting focused on peace and security, convened to tackle rising tensions in the Takum and Donga local government areas.
The gathering included a diverse array of stakeholders, featuring representatives from the Tiv People’s Association, officials from Tabital Pulaku International, the Tiv Cultural and Social Association, and the Miyetti Allah group, along with leaders of security agencies operating within the state.
During his address, the Commissioner remarked that the police would persist in protecting lives and property while taking firm steps against all types of criminal activity. He emphasized that guaranteeing the safety of residents is a primary concern for the command.
He also reaffirmed the police command’s determination to collaborate closely with pertinent stakeholders to maintain peace and stability across Taraba State.
While delivering the keynote speech, the Chairman of the Reconciliation and Peace Dialogue Committee, Mallam Isa Yuguda, emphasized the significance of continuous dialogue, mutual understanding, and shared responsibility in tackling security issues and promoting enduring peace in affected communities.
Participants at the assembly voiced their worries regarding the security conditions and collectively urged for calm, harmonious coexistence, and strict adherence to the rule of law.
They also concurred to enhance cooperation with security forces and foster ongoing community engagement.
Residents of Takum and Donga were encouraged to remain law-abiding, support security agencies, and refrain from actions capable of heightening tensions in the region.
