“Suswam Emerges as Senate Contender for Benue North-East in 2027!”

The previous Governor of Benue State and former Senator representing the Benue North-East Senatorial District, Gabriel Suswam, has announced his aspiration to return to the upper legislative chamber through the 2027 general elections.

The two-term ex-governor made this announcement during a public gathering over the weekend.

Suswam, who recently switched from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), stated that the state, since he “initiated his political career in 1998, is a place where the populace believes in one party.”

He noted that Benue State was “entirely a PDP state for its initial 16 years. Afterwards, they transitioned to the APC.”

“As a son of Benue, I shall not be an exception to what my people desire and what they hold to be true. They now adhere to the principles and ideologies of the APC.”

Suswam further mentioned that “as a political figure, if you are still robust enough to participate in an election, you inherently want to engage in elections.”

“The only election that I can participate in now is the Senate. Naturally, I cannot return to run for governor even if I wished to; the constitution prohibits me from seeking the governorship again. Hence, I will be aiming for the Senate.”
